Before the end of the Second World War, soldiers made a promise in the chapel: if they returned home in good health, they would renovate the forest chapel, which had meanwhile run down. In 1945 the word was kept and the chapel was renovated.

The Oberauelbach homecoming chapel is a small church in the Oberauelbach district of the Windeck municipality in the Rhein-Sieg district. It was built in 1950 by those returning from the Second World War as a thank you for their healthy return. The chapel is dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua and is a listed building. The chapel is a simple quarry stone building with a gable roof and a roof turret. Inside there is an altar with a statue of St. Anthony holding a child in his arms. The chapel is maintained by the village community and is regularly used for church services.
