The pigeon pond and its bivouac are a highlight and also recommended for overnight stays on mild summer days.

The bivouac is about 200 meters away from the forest path and can be reached via a small footpath. It is open to hikers from the beginning of April to the end of October.

A small wooden bivouac box has three bedrooms for 1 to 2 people. Nearby there is a covered table with benches and there is a composting toilet and a fireplace.
If you bring your own tent, you can put it up on the bivouac to stay overnight.

To be able to stay at the bivouac for one night, you buy a trekking ticket (e.g. at the Schöna or Dresden train station) worth € 5. A section of the ticket is torn off and thrown into the ticket box provided for this purpose. The other section is kept to show.
If you bring a water filter, you can help yourself from the pigeon pond.

The bivouac is part of the Forststeig.

There is this small mini hut (3 sleeps for 1-2 persons), a composting kloof, a rain catcher with hot water and a fire pit. You have to bring your own drinking water. It is recommended to buy a water filter in the outdoor store for the walk, otherwise it will be difficult with the drinking water supply on the Forststeig.

In order to stay overnight, you can buy a trekking ticket worth 5 € in advance. These tickets are valid for 2 years. To use, fill in the date, throw one half into the ticket mailbox and the other half ready to show.
