    Construction of pilgrimage church and chapel of grace

    Even if the monastery is not yet completely finished: on July 26, 1702, the first Franciscans move in. A good twenty years later, three fathers and four brothers belong to the monastery. Over the years, the monastery was built and expanded, until finally, after approval by the Würzburg ordinariate, another foundation stone was laid on Whit Monday 1732: Auxiliary Bishop Johann Bernhard Mayer came to Schwarzenberg for the festive start of construction of the pilgrimage church, the plans of which are in the office had been revised by Balthasar Neumann. The official elevation of the monastery to the status of a convent, i.e. an independent branch of the religious province, which is now intended to be permanent, also falls at the time when the church was being built. Three years after the start of construction, the same auxiliary bishop traveled to Schwarzenberg again: on July 26, 1735, the church was consecrated and handed over to its future purpose.
