Old Chaplaincy Ummerstadt

This is where the famous son of the city of Ummerstadt lived, Friedrich Conrad Müller, founder of the German Singers' Association, made an honorary citizen in 1937 and has a wide range of talents.

The chaplain is above the market, a little further up is the St.Andreas Church, the oldest fortified church in Thuringia.

In German-speaking countries, the term chaplain is also used for a parish vicar who is subordinate to a priest in the first few years after his ordination and does not yet have sole responsibility for a parish; he is supposed to gain the necessary experience during this time and therefore takes on some of the priest's duties.
