Excavation site of an ancient (4000 to 5000 years old) palace of the Minoans. The stop when you visit Matala is worth it, especially if you are almost alone there. A little more information material upon entry (8 euros per person is quite a lot for Crete) wouldn't be bad. Parts of the excavations are closed, which is a shame. The ancients knew exactly where they built their palaces.
