The Lychakiv necropolis in the hearts of Poles has a special place for one more reason. It is the matter of the devastation and subsequent reconstruction of the Lviv Eaglets' cemetery - soldiers (mainly young boys) taking part in the battles for the Borderlands in 1918-1921.
The graves, which were brutally destroyed on the orders of the Soviet authorities, were rebuilt after Ukraine regained independence. The official opening of the restored Lviv Eaglets' Cemetery (Cemetery of the Defenders of Lviv) took place in 2005.
