The school in Aufkirchen can look back on 400 years of tradition. As early as 1825, Aufkirchen was the most important school location on the eastern shore of Lake Starnberg. The old schoolhouse was built together with a new vicarage and inaugurated on July 20, 1894. Karl Mann was a teacher there from 1881 to 1907, to whom the Bavarian writer Oskar Maria Graf erected a literary monument.
