Quite a steep climb at the beginning. But varied and very nice foresight.

The Bertradaburg, which was named after Charlemagne's great-grandmother, Bertrada the Elder, is located above the Eifel town of Mürlenbach on a mountain spur above the Kyll valley. It is a hilltop castle. Charlemagne is said to have been born in this castle. However, there are other legends about this castle that cannot be clearly proven.
The Bertradaburg was first mentioned in the 14th century. In the 1970s, the castle was bought by a couple who renovated it.
The striking parts of the Bertradaburg (in particular the double tower gate building, the ring wall and the northern tower) belong to the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The residential buildings and other parts of the castle are privately owned. Source: eifelfuehrer.de/touristische-ziele/burgen-und-schloesser/bertradaburg
