The land ditches in Nuremberg include a large number of smaller watercourses in the city of Nuremberg with a total length of around 180 km. In terms of water law, they are water bodies of the 3rd order, so the city is responsible for their maintenance. The only exception is the 20 km long Gründlach, which is managed by the Water Management Office as a second-class body of water. Altogether there are 80 ditches and streams in Nuremberg.
