The Bründl chapel in Emmerstorfer Holz was built in 1871 in place of a cross column that had stood here more than 100 years earlier. The much older sanctuary is the "Holy Fountain", which is mentioned as early as 1495. Next to the little church, the source has been taken in a small brick grotto. In the tradition, the Emmerstorfer Bründl is an Augenheilbründl, you wash your eyes with it. However, as the poet Herbert Emmerstorfer explained, washing your eyes may not be about your specific eyesight at all - it is more about opening your eyes to the really important things in life. The Bründl is on the way to the stone labyrinth of the Inner Einkehr.
