The chapel of Try-au-Chêne stands on the field of Renoussart, land that Ida d'Ardenne gave to the abbey of Saint-Hubert in 1096 when her three sons left for the first crusade.

The chapel was erected in 1608 by Captain Thierry Le Jeune, Lord of La Baillerie and Brabant officer of the Archduke Albert, in order to thank the Virgin for having protected him from death during the Eighty Years' War caused by the revolt of the Northern Netherlands (United Provinces) against the Kingdom of Spain. This is evidenced by the dedicatory cartouche in Old French engraved in the stone to the right of the door.

A large crucifix cut from a roughly carved block of oak was placed in 1868 against the apse of the chapel but it was stolen and only the traces of the small awning which sheltered it remain.

The chapel and its surroundings have been classified as historical monuments since September 1, 1997.

Farm trail perfect for gravel. Flat all the way with the magnificent little "Chapelle du Try au Chêne" at the end of the road.
