With the connection to the Roth S-Bahn station and the onward journey by regional train to Hilpoltstein, you can ideally start your leisurely bike tour at Hilpoltstein's Gredl station. The "Gredl" local railway, which first went into operation in 1887, served as a means of passenger and freight transport. Steam locomotives carried the trains from Roth to Greding. It ran along the entire route until the 1970s. Railway operations were gradually discontinued. Today, the Gredl only runs with modern trains from Roth to Hilpoltstein. A 30-kilometer cycle path, half of which is asphalted, has been set up along the rest of the route.
