Hiking

Burials were held in the church until 1836, after that it was banned, even for families who traditionally had their own burial grounds there. In the year 1887, during a renovation, a burial vault of 4.30 meters long, 1.70 meters wide and 1.19 deep was discovered, where six abbots of Dickninge were buried (former monastery on the Dickninge estate). The cellar was closed with a keystone with the year 1245 chiseled into it. As a result, one could assume that there was a church in IJhorst in 1245.
