The old stream valley landscape of the Eelderdiep has been restored. In such a natural landscape, a stream overflows its banks during wet times. The area around the Eelderdiep is one of the wettest parts of De Onlanden. The water that comes from the upper reaches is held here by the weir that can be seen on the north side of the Weeringse Dijk. This gradually creates a swampy area.
