The Jossa is a 32 km long river in the Spessart, which runs in the Main-Kinzig district in southern Hesse. It rises in the Lettgenbrunn district of Jossgrund and flows from the right into the middle reaches of the Sinn in the Jossa district of the municipality of Sinntal. It is a fine-material, siliceous low mountain range stream.

The name consists of the old word Jasa and Old High German aha. They mean showers or precipitation and water. The name of the river passed to the towns of Burgjoss and Marjoss (both originally Jazaha) and to Jossa, which was founded later, and gave its name to the Joßgrund district, the Jossgrund municipality and the former Jossatal municipality.

The Jossaquelle is in the middle of Lettgenbrunn. It is a small, contained source into which the Villbach flows, which is often regarded as the upper reaches and arises about two kilometers to the north-west near Villbach. However, this often has no water in the summer, so that the actual course of the water then begins at the Jossa spring. The spring was used to supply drinking water to Lettgenbrunn until 1951. On September 16, 2007, the redesign of the Jossa source was completed and a natural sandstone was set with a reference to the source.

However, this is not a river, but rather a trickle or a stream... or is it a rivulet? Hmmm? 🤔 ... Anyway, it's definitely a flowing body of water! 😉
