The manor was first mentioned in 1453.
Later it was occupied by the commanderie board and finally, in 1880, it was used as a brewery.
The building was built in a Gothic-Renaissance style, very unusual for the Condroz, and was originally surrounded by a moat.
The 20 m high keep dates from the second half of the 12th century, and legend has it that Gérard de Villers lived there before he started building the Commanderie.
The castle has been empty since 2008 and is in danger of falling into disrepair. It is currently owned by a project developer, who would like to build an apartment block there. (source: RTBF)
