Prevorst belongs to the municipality Oberstenfeld. It is a municipality of the district of Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg, 40 km north of Stuttgart. It belongs to the Stuttgart region (until 1992 Mittlerer Neckar region) and to the peripheral zone of the European metropolitan region of Stuttgart.
Oberstenfeld is located in the upper Bottwartal in the northeast of the district of Ludwigsburg and has a share in the natural areas Swabian-Franconian forest mountains and Neckar basin. In the north and east, it borders on the Löwensteiner mountains, west of the vineyards covered hills of Forstberg and Wunnenstein tower. The suburb Prevorst lies on the forest heights of the Löwensteiner mountains in a community exclave, surrounded by the areas of four municipalities of the district Heilbronn and the Rems-Murr-Kreises.
The nearest neighboring communities are Beilstein in the north and Großbottwar in the south.
Oberstenfeld consists of the three districts (residential districts) Gronau (residential district II), Prevorst (residential district III) and Oberstenfeld (residential district I). The official name of the districts is preceded by the name of the community and connected with hyphen adjusted the names of the districts. The three districts form residential districts in the sense of the Baden-Württemberg municipal code and the two districts Gronau and Prevorst together form a village within the meaning of the Baden-Württemberg municipal code with its own Ortschaftsrat and mayor as its chairman. For the election of the Ortschaftsrat, the loggerhead is chosen accordingly. Gronau and Prevorst form the two residential districts, Wohnbezirk II and Wohnbezirk III. The districts Gronau and Prevorst formed until 31 December 1971, the independent municipality Gronau. To the district Gronau belongs the village Gronau. Prevorst belongs to the hamlet of Prevorst. To the district Oberstenfeld include the village Oberstenfeld, castle and homestead Lichtenberg and the residential Neuwirtshaus and the excreted localities Glashausen, Kratzheim, Schmaleneck and Zum Hag.
Gronau is located directly northeast of Oberstenfeld, Prevorst is located about five kilometers northeast of Oberstenfeld in the Löwensteiner mountains. Prevorst is separated from the rest of the municipality and forms an exclave between the district Heilbronn and the Rems-Murr-Kreis. At 483 meters above sea level, it is the highest town in the district of Ludwigsburg.

Very nice extraordinary Christmas market. Barns and workshops are cleared out. Kindergartens and churches sell cakes. The whole village joins in.

In the middle of the village, next to the church, is the house where the "Seer of Prevorst" was born (today the Ochsen Inn). On September 23, 1801 Friederike was born here as the daughter of the district forester Wanner and his wife. A visit to the historic inn is well worth it!
