The now modern footbridge has a historical background. Until 1951, students from Neudorf went to school in Aufenau. Christians from Neudorf even went to church in Aufenau until 1962. To ensure the path could be used even during normal floods, a plank footbridge was built from Kinzighausen to Aufenau, beginning here.
