Schwichteler Station and Country Store

The railway line led from Vechta via Schledehausen, Daren, Bakum, Vestrup, Schwichteler, Tenstedt, Cappeln, Emstek to Cloppenburg. Considering how meager some stops are today, we must look with great respect to our ancestors who have built quite representative stations in places as small as Schwichteler, Cappeln and Emstek. Parts of the railway line can still be seen today, are / were still used, for example, at the section from Daren to Bakum on the Elmelager road was used until a few years ago, the railway embankment as a pedestrian and bicycle path, then rebuilt to the bike path (so it was until about 8 years ago, I will explore the current status shortly and complete it here).

A village shop has now established itself here. There is also a 24/7 machine right next to it, which allows late shopping to be extended. Class 👍

Today there is almost nothing left of it and one can no longer imagine it, but there was once the railway line Vechta-Cloppenburg - with track systems that began in Vechta and ended in Cloppenburg.
In the meantime, the tracks have been dismantled for a long time and the route can no longer be traced exactly. However, the station buildings have remained.
For the sake of simplicity, identical station buildings were built along the route - and so the building in Schwichteler is very similar to that in Emstek.

The Heimatverein Cappeln, in cooperation with the current owner, is trying to raise awareness of the railway history of the building and the property. A piece of wistful time travel resonates, because everything comes from a time before bits and bytes and when the term time was still a value in itself.
