    Lauscha is known as the "cradle of glass Christmas tree decorations". Around 1847, the first Christmas tree decorations were made from glass, in the form of fruits and nuts, probably as a pioneer of today's Christmas tree balls. Not many people will know that here in Lauscha in 1835, Ludwig MĂŒller-Uri invented the artificial human eye made of glass in its modern form.
