The Hirtentor in Eggolsheim is a beautiful half-timbered building and part of the former fortification. Every now and then there were restaurants and cafés in the building. I can not say whether it is farmed again - maybe after the Corona crisis again. The photo is from Pixelio.de

The Forchheimer Tor was reduced to ashes in a devastating fire in 1615 and later rebuilt.
In 1684 this gate was provided with a gatehouse and called Shepherd's House. Shepherd's house because shepherd families lived in it. From this developed the name "Hirtentor", which is still naturalized to this day. This is a two-story gatehouse with a hipped roof, five to an axis, and timber framing.
In 1976/77 the municipality of Eggolsheim completely renovated the shepherd's gate and it received its current appearance.
The Hirtentor has been managed since 1988.
