Brande station was inaugurated on 1 January 1914 along with the Give-Herning section.

The roundhouse was also completed in 1914. It was built with 8 tracks but later expanded to 14 tracks.

In the early 1940s, when lignite mining was really picking up speed, the roundhouse and life around the railway in Brande really got going.

The roundhouse was for many years home to a large number of steam locomotives, but from the mid-1950s DSB began to reduce the use of these locomotives and activities related to the depot slowly disappeared. The last steam locomotive on the timetable ran in 1969.

In 1971 the roundhouse operation was discontinued.

After extensive restoration and conversion of the roundhouse, Brande's new cultural and conference center RemisenBrande was inaugurated.
