    Steinegerta "Rudolf Ruscheweyh", Schaan

Building complex in a villa district, municipality of Schaan, 568 m above sea level. The Villa Steinegerta was built in 1942-43 as a private home for Rudolf Ruscheweyh by the architects Lippert and Waldkirch, Zurich, based on the models of noble country estates. The complex, made of hewn sedimentary rock, consists of three buildings (a residential building, a manager's building and a farm building) and, including a park, covers an area of 13,520 m2. Steinegerta represents an exceptional phenomenon in Liechtenstein's architectural heritage. When Ruscheweyh moved to the USA in 1948, Ruscheweyh transferred the villa to the Claude André Foundation, which sold it to the Steinegerten Anstalt in 1956. Otto Stürken (1898-1979) became a new resident. In 1981, the municipality of Schaan acquired the Steinegerta property and leased it to the Deanery of Liechtenstein in 1982. Since 1982, the office for adult education (since 1999 adult education Stein-Egerta Institute, supported by the association for an open church) has had its headquarters in the Steinegerta house (official opening October 17, 1982). Four course rooms with a total of 262 m2 are available, which are used for adult education events. Steinegerta also serves as a gallery, venue for literature days, readings and concerts, and is rented to companies or the state administration for training and further education as well as for meetings.
