Yesterday I drove up the part of the cross path after crossing Krösselbach - I briefly descended once or twice, but in principle it goes very well. The part towards Stolzeneck Castle is sometimes very intense - I've already ridden it more or less (i.e. got off several times)
And yes - it is part of the Neckarsteig - hikers should be absolutely respected and they should have priority. At least if you don't want to risk a general driving ban on the path.

The path may not be quite as alpine as the sign at the rescue point says, but you should have some MTB riding skills if you dare to cycle here. The path is narrow and the slope is very steep, in some places rocks or big tree roots on the way. Luckily I didn't have any oncoming traffic on the route, there isn't much room to dodge.
