When walkers make their way to the Dormitzer Kirchberg, they usually stop at the statue of the Madonna. The benches and the wonderful view invite you to linger. The protective cloak Madonna, as she is called, is enthroned on a cantilevered foundation of Jura limestone. She spreads her cloak wide as if to take everyone under her protection. You can see the Dormitz church carved into her coat, a house gable and people who go under her protection. One wonders what the reason for putting up this protective cloak Madonna may have been.
