On October 31, 1929, the Munich State Ministry of the Interior sent the four municipalities involved a map on which the boundary of the area to be ceded was marked. The date for founding the town was January 1st, 1930. The districts of the municipalities of Mutterstadt, Neuhofen, Rheingönheim and Schifferstadt (Limburgerhof, Kohlhof, Rehhütte and Friendensau) were merged to form the new municipality, Limburgerhof.
