Construction of today's church began in 1882. The church consecration took place on May 19, 1885 by the prince-bishop's delegate Johannes Maria Assmann from Berlin. The patronage commemorates St. Otto von Bamberg, the "Apostle of Pomerania". In the following years the number of parishioners increased, so that on May 4, 1891 the mission parish was elevated to a regular parish. In 1913, the west wall of the building was broken through in order to relocate the chancel to the location that still exists today. Ten years later, the master painter Ruschin designed the chancel in color. In 1925 the congregation acquired the painting Crucifixion Group. In 1929 the church was renovated by the church painter Schutow from Bingen am Rhein.
