Currently, the Church of Our Lady of the Scapular in Wawrzka was built as an Orthodox church dedicated to the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The construction of the temple was started by the Orthodox inhabitants of Wawrzki in 1935. The construction was not completed because of the outbreak of World War II. In 1947, after the displacement of the Lemkos, the temple was taken over by the faithful of the Roman Catholic Church who completed the construction. The consecration of the church took place in 1950
