The Egg Tunnel was built in 1896 because an underpass was needed for the railway. The tunnel was built by Dr. Steyerthal, who was the director of the hydrotherapy clinic in 1895. At that time, the goal was to facilitate access to the lake, which was supposed to bring healing to the sick. According to legend, encounters in the Egg Tunnel guarantee happy marriages.
