The sculptor Johann David Voelcker created the White Lily Fountain in 1794 as a classic pump well, the predecessor of which, according to the Frankfurt Brunnenbuch, was first mentioned as Born in 1390. His eight-meter-high structure reached to the second floor of the corner house, in front of which he stood. The basin was framed by four pillars that had shouldered a vase and gilded lily obelisk. The fountain stood at the entrance to the Fressgass on the Comoedienplatz, today's Rathenauplatz. He owes his name to the neighboring house "The White Lily". Here he was until 1831 in operation. Then he was broken off and his stones either sold or blocked.
