There is a memorial stone that was erected in memory of Major Colin Louis Ziegler who was a stalwart of the New Forest and worked tirelessly for many years to ensure the forest's protection and conservation.

Safe all year, but wellies recommended when the ground is particularly soggy!

The stone was erected in memory of Major Colin Louis Ziegler who was a stalwart of the New Forest and worked tirelessly for many years to ensure its protection and conservation. He was Chairman of the New Forest Association and his ancestor William Ziegler later held the same position and is now a trustee of the association.
