Scottish Highland cattle in the Osterwald Hutewald

Here you will find a herd of Scottish highland cattle that stay outside all year round. From here you can hike on to the chalet or the wood mill.

According to the information board of the Niedersächsisches Landesforsten located there:"Dear visitors:This is a project of the Niedersächsichen Landesforsten in cooperation with the Bioland farm Eschenhof from Springe. In this Hutewald lives a herd of Scottish highland cattle. The animals are a very robust breed that lives outdoors all year round. The animals are looked after and supervised several times a week by expert staff. "Note: the last time I was there, there was no sign of the cattle. I can not say anything about the frequency of their presence.

Very nice project. This should be done more often.
