Ruined structure (no access to the area due to the danger of collapse). However, it is possible to admire at least 3 specimens of millenary olive trees (do not step on the surrounding area as it could compact the ground and create problems for these wonderful specimens).

The ancient nucleus of Monte San Giovanni, dominated by an important castle, stood on the hill overlooking the current town which has recently developed on the left bank of the Lavino. The past of the small town as a residential area is testified by the presence of many buildings, such as this "Torre della Guarda". Together with the "Torre del Paleotto" and the tower incorporated in the fifteenth-century Casa Masi, they were the lookout towers of the Rocca di Bonzara of which only a few signs remain on the mountain.
