    Hiking

Between 115,000 and 10,000 years ago there was a tundra climate in the Netherlands. Pingos were also found in the Netherlands at that time. A pingo is a mound created by an underground ice lens pushing up the soil. Such a mound can grow up to sixty meters high and have a diameter of three hundred meters. When the ice melts, a pingo ruin is created, which has the shape of a crater.
