The Middle Ages are still clearly visible on the cobblestone street with the stone arches. From the Archaeological Museum, the road climbs slightly 200 m to the Grand Master's Palace. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the Knights of the Order of St. John lived here. Some of the stone coats of arms can still be seen. Today are i.a. the French and Italian consulates are housed here.

Probably the most magnificent building is the hostel of the French knights, built in 1492. The striking façade design and the pointed arch portal. Reliefs show the date of construction, the coat of arms of the Order, the coat of arms of France, with the three lilies and the royal crown and Grand Master Pierre Aubusson with cardinal hat. The end of the Knights Street (starting from the Archaeological Museum) once formed a transversal building with passage. To the left was the 14th century church dedicated to St. John (the patron saint of knights of the Order of St. John). In 1856, it was blown up by a lightning strike. This was due to huge amounts of gunpowder that had been stored here before the siege in 1522. After the defeat of the Knights and the seizure of power by the Turks, this was forgotten. Parts of the city, the Knights Street and the Grand Master's Palace had been destroyed during the massive explosion. The Italians had the St. John's Church faithfully restored to the Mandraki port after pictures that were available to them.

The street has been faithfully restored to its original appearance during the time of the Order of St. John. Unlike all other tourist streets in the city, there are no souvenir shops or restaurants here. This makes it particularly worth seeing.
