One of several landmarks from 1721 in the area.
    But a particularly large example.

The Gescheid is the forest boundary between the Lampertheim and Bürstadt-Lorsch forests, a place that was already known as the Franconian district boundary between the Upper Rhine district and the Lobdengau or Ladenburg district. It cannot be ruled out that it was already considered a provincial border in Roman times, possibly already demarcating Celtic territory.

This boundary stone from 1721 shows the Mainz wheel on the Lorsch-Bürstadt side at the top and the Lorsch village sign below, franked by the letters L (for Lorsch) and B (for Bürstadt) and the designation GRÄNZSTEN below (the i is missing on almost all stones.

On the Worms side we have the Worms key at the top, below it the Andreras cross as the Lampertheim town sign and the letter L for Lampertheim, also below the designation GRÄNZSTEN, although here too the letter i is missing.
