Hiking

The Calanchi dell'Abbadessa are suggestive clay formations, shaped by erosion over the centuries, which create a barren landscape characterized by steep ridges and valleys. The site offers numerous hiking trails, perfect for nature lovers and trekking, allowing you to explore this particular natural environment rich in biodiversity and enjoy beautiful views of the Emilian countryside.

Hiking

A large part of the total elevation gain of this loop tour is concentrated in the calanchi area. In fact, you leave the valley carved by the Centonara stream (marshy area in case of rain) and begin to climb the barren territory of the calanchi, on a path that is at times steep, but never exposed. The view is exceptional, the landscape is lunar and the contrast between the grey of the clay and the colours of the leaves is splendid in autumn. Avoid in case of rain, because the path becomes extremely slippery.
