Castle Gräfgenstein is a former knight's seat and was first mentioned in a document in 1254. The manor was the seat of the Knights of Eggerscheidt high above the Angertal. Around 1457 the castle is mentioned as "Grevensteyne" with the residential tower and then again around 1598 as "Gräfgenstein", as the name still is today. (The road itself is a dead end, dirt has to be hiked, then you should turn back and use other paths.
