A church was first mentioned in 1492. It was built on a ridge between the brooks of Banfe and Godelsbach. Because of this location, it can be assumed that it is of greater age. There were two bells in the roof turret. In a report from 1852, the builder Grupe pointed out the poor structural condition of the building. The Feudingen pastor finally wrote in 1864 that the chapel was irreparable and suggested a new building. This project failed due to a lack of funds. As a result, at Easter 1872, part of the church collapsed. On the walls, which were mainly made and covered with clay mortar and then lightly whitewashed, wall paintings were revealed under the upper whitewash during the demolition, which fell victim to the demolition.

In 1876 the construction of the current church began. After a year of construction, the church was completed and consecrated on December 18, 1877.
