Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs Chapel (Mousset)

The small hamlet of Saive called "Mousset" has a picturesque little chapel dedicated to "Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs" and located at the foot of the Haie delle Praye thier. Its origin is unknown but is already mentioned in 1716 in a deed of sale. The Mater Dolorosa cult appeared in Germany at the beginning of the 13th century. This title owes its name to the seven Sorrows said to be experienced by the Virgin Mary. It is at the foot of the Miermont hill (name of the upper part of the rue de la Haie delle Praye) that this pretty Marian chapel has been located for 4 centuries, flowered all year round by local residents keen to maintain the tradition and to beautify this pretty corner of the village; fans of more secular leisure activities indulge in the pleasure of pétanque on the Place du Mousset, accompanied by convivial late picnics and well watered, under the beneficial shade of trees judiciously planted since the development of the crossroads in favor of uses weak and “athletes” of boules and jacks!
