Camp Velebit

The Velebit campsite is one of my favorites of this trip. This campsite is magical. There are possibilities to rent hobbit houses, to camp in a more or less wild way. It is without numbered slots, as elves and sprites don't like to be boxed. There are many community places, starting with the kitchen. The surroundings are superb and offer hikes of great beauty. You meet great people there and the sky is clear and bright. In short, a paradise I tell you.

Camp Velebit is an ideal place between Adriatic and Plitvice lakes. After arduously mastering the pass, the camp is located just behind the cube, which is enthroned on the ridge of the pass and allows a view far over the offshore islands. The location is super idyllic, with the limestone monoliths rising out of the dense forests in the background. There is a pitch for tents on the lawn by the creek, covered cooking and grilling facilities, clean toilets and small huts designed like the hobbits' home. 1km further up is a tourist restaurant with a large beer garden and very tasty, cheap food.
