The Büttelberg (528 m) is part of the European watershed. Coming from Marktbergel, you can see the Bavarian Broadcasting's transmitter mast (220 m) on the mountain from afar. Up until this point, the water flows via streams to the Regnitz, then into the Main, the Rhine, and finally into the North Sea. But less than 10 km further west, for example, the Altmühl rises, flows into the Danube, and with it into the Black Sea!☝🏻

The Büttelberg transmitter is located on the 530-meter-high, heavily wooded Büttelberg hill in the Franconian Heights region. It has served as a broadcasting site for radio and television programs since 1952. FM radio, digital radio (DAB), and digital television (DVB-T) are broadcast. A 219-meter-high guyed steel tube mast has been used as the antenna support since 1969.
