The non-functional weir system of the Gänhaufentraverse was renewed in 2001 by MA 45 - Hydraulic Engineering, in order to enable positive management of the old arm systems in the event of floods. The new system can be opened quickly in the event of a flood and allows increased nutrient and sediment discharge from the Kühwörth water when the flood water flows back. The viewing platform on the roof of the new weir station offers visitors to the national park the opportunity to observe nature.
