The name goes back to the painter Canaletto (Giovanni Antonio Canal), who captured this view of the city in his famous vedute. From here, you can see the classic skyline of Dresden's Old Town with the Frauenkirche Dresden, the Hofkirche, and the Brühlsche Terrasse Dresden.
The view is still considered one of the most famous cityscapes in Germany and is a popular photo spot for the historic Elbe panorama silhouette.
