This imposing monument commemorates the construction of the "Emperor Franz Josef Road" between 1897 and 1901. Under the direction of Josef Oberndorfer and planned as a military maneuver project, the road became an important access route in the rolling hills surrounding St. Peter's. The crown on the monument symbolizes the connection to the imperial infrastructure policy under Franz Joseph I – a silent witness along the way with an impressive panorama.
