This palace is known by two names: as Juan Cuesta Mercadillo, who ordered it to be built between 1724 and 1730, or it is also known as Palacio de La Rañada (named after the neighborhood in which it is located).
The building was founded in 1725 on the remains of the family's old solar house; it is characterized by the closed aspect of the whole. A simple portal gives access to the patio, it is topped by the coat of arms of Cuesta, Mercadillo and Castillo, with three shields in the arch that distribute the elements that make up the arms of the Septién family.
The simple ashlar façade, with arches, and the chapel dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe complete the ensemble.
