This viaduct was part of the "Mittweida - Drei Werden" railway line. On May 7th, 1945 the US Army and the Red Army met at this point. That was the US Army's most easterly advance.

Hiking

On April 15, 1945, US troops occupied the town of Mittweida, but withdrew to Rochlitz on April 25, 1945. On May 7, 1945, the allied forces of the US Army and the Red Army met in Mittweida, as commemorated by a plaque on the northern abutment of the former Hainichener Strasse railway overpass.
