Beautiful neo-Gothic church. Located on the pilgrimage route of the diocese of Essen. Unfortunately no pilgrims' stamp in the church. Parish office often not open. Pity!

The St. Lamberti Church in its current external form was consecrated in 1899. The origins go back to the first church foundation in the 9th century. The predecessor of this first church with parish rights was probably initially a small chapel that belonged to the Franconian royal court in Gladbeck, the Allinghof. The chapel and the first church were located on the so-called Vestischen Hellweg (roughly today's Hochstraße), which was an important traffic route as early as the Middle Ages. A brook meandered along the church, the Gladebeke or Gladebecke, which means something like "clear, smooth, bright brook".
