After a refreshing swim in the natural pools of Charco del Palo, hike northwards through extensive dunes strewn with lava rocks, along paths that are sometimes barely visible, always along the sea. Passing a small bay with a few quaint, uninhabited huts, you reach a place with underground lava caves, from which, when the conditions are good, water fountains from the nearby sea spurt up (see corresponding highlight). We weren't granted this phenomenon, but the deep grumbling from the caves, which were barely visible from above, was still impressive. Continue on the same path along some old cactus fields to reach Mala, where there is a bus connection.
