Partly for its own survival, partly for the care of pilgrims, Camaldoli has developed a wide range of food, liquor and cosmetic products unparalleled in the history of world monasticism.

The Camaldolese monks are part of the Benedictine tradition as scholars of nature and guardians of the forest. Over the centuries they have cataloged and studied the flora and fauna of the territory in which they settled.
In particular, they have become profound connoisseurs of the healing properties of aromatic herbs. Their wise use was transformed into medicines or rather elixirs useful for the care of the pilgrims they hosted without any discrimination within their hospitals.

This was the first form of hospitals. It was thanks to the monastic movement that hospitals and the extraordinary liqueurs resulting from the wise herbal activity exist today.
